Sleep plays a very important role in your physical and mental health. When you get a good quality of sleep you become refresh and healthy. The mood you feel when you are awake is the result of your sleep. During sleep your body help you to growth and development and recover your body from the damage cause when you are awake.
Mental health :-
When you are sleeping your brain is preparing for the next day. It forms new pathways to learn and remember the information. Studies shows that sleep helps you to enhance learning and problem solving ability, sleep also helps you to pay attention, make decisions and be creative.
Studies also show that sleep deficiency alters activity in some parts of the brain. Sleep deficiency also has been linked to depression, suicide and risk taking behaviour. Children who are sleep deficent may have problem getting along with other, they may feel angry and they may also mood swings feel sad or depressed, demotivated. They also may have problem paying attention and they may get lower grades and feel stressed.
Physical health :-
Sleep involves in healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to an increase risk of heart diseases, kidney diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes and strokes. A study has shown that with each hrs of sleep loss the odds of becoming abuse went up.
Sleep helps maintaining hormonal balance. When you don't sleep your ghrelin level goes up and your leylin level goes down. This makes you feel hungry. Sleep also react on your body insulin ( the hormone which control your blood sugar level ) which may increase risk of diabetes.
Sleep also supports health growth and development. A good sleep triggers the body to release the growth hormone that promotes the growth. These hormone also boost muscle mass and helps repair cells and tissues. Your immune system become healthy, these system defends your body against foreign substance. Ongoing sleep deficiency can change the way in which your immune system responds i.e. when your sleep deficient you may have trouble fighting against common infections.
